Dear musician:
Welcome to Skagen Festival 2011
It's the year after the celebration of the festival's 40th anniversary. We had a great time, and the festival 2010 was one of the best ever. It had everything a festival needs:
Great music, fantastic weather, an enthustiastic audience.
Two of those things we can influence - and we certainly do that! However, the dark horse is always mother nature. But we'll be voting for lots of SUN, although we have no actual power. But Skagen is known for more sunshine than the rest of the country. So there!
Since last year we've been concentrating on looking ahead and making sure that Skagen Festival 2011 will turn out to be just as successful as the anniversary. We feel like we're starting a new era after the first 40 years: Skagen 2.0
That makes it very important to live up to all kinds of expectations, and we've done everything and will do everything we can to fullfill them. Our music programme 2011 is just as great, varied, and ambitious as last year, and we're again proud and happy to present it.
And YOU are an important part of it.
Through the years a lot of people have worked very hard to make Skagen Festival a success and a great place to be. It means that every year we've managed to produce a festival full of fine music and musicians - and great, loyal audiences. Close to 600 volunteers work every year through the long festival weekend to make sure that everything works out perfectly, no matter where you go and where you play. We aim to please the audience, but pleasing our musicians is equally important.
If you're a friend of the festival then you know that Skagen is a special place. If this is your first time then we feel sure that you'll quickly learn that it actually is a special place!
We wish you a great time here, and a great gig. Skagen Festival is blessed with beautiful surroundings, and it is our hope and intention that you'll enjoy everything here.
Skagen Festival presently has six venues: Badmintonhallen, Skagen Kultur- & Fritidscenter,
Havnescenen, Torvescenen, Skawbar And Open Stage.
Also be sure to join us Saturday and Sunday afternoon for The Ceilidh and for The Singers’ Afternoon, where everybody join forces, play and sing together to create magic moments for both the audience and themselves. Skagen harbour is a popular place, always crowded and lively. All over town you'll be met by enthusiastic and happy audiences.
When you are not on stage we advise you to take the opportunity to experience our town and the exceptional nature around it. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any problem whatsoever. We have done and will do everything we can to make sure that your stay here, the sound & light, and everything to do with your gig will work out perfectly.
Have a great time – and we look forward to seeing you!
